As the world's largest new energy vehicle market, China continues to lead in charging infrastructure construction and market size.
Current Status of China's AC Charging Pile Market
As of the end of August 2025, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure (guns) in my country reached 17.348 million, a year-on-year increase of 53.5%. Among them, public charging facilities (guns) numbered 4.316 million, a year-on-year increase of 37.8%; private charging facilities numbered 13.032 million, a year-on-year increase of 59.6%.

According to statistics from the China Charging Alliance in August 2025, public AC charging facilities (charging piles), as shown in the above figure, are roughly estimated to be approximately 2,130,415 nationwide. This indicates that public AC charging facilities account for approximately 49% of the total.
AC Charging Pile Market Situation in Major Developed Economies Abroad
The AC charging pile market in developed economies in Europe and America has also shown rapid development driven by policy and demand, but there are significant differences compared to the Chinese market.
The European market, represented by countries such as France, Germany, and the Netherlands, is relatively advanced. By 2024, France had nearly 137,000 public charging stations for new energy vehicles, with more than one-fifth deployed in 2024.

However, the distribution of charging stations in Europe is uneven, with a significant gap. According to a report by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), most EU countries have insufficient charging stations in their road networks, with six countries averaging less than one charging station per 100 kilometers. ACEA estimates that the EU will need approximately 6.8 million public charging stations by 2030, but as of September 2023, only 613,300 were available, indicating a need to accelerate construction.
The US market is also experiencing rapid development driven by policy. Nevertheless, the construction of charging stations in the US is relatively slow, limited by factors such as a low base of new energy vehicle ownership leading to poor operator profitability, slow infrastructure development, and an aging power grid system. From January to November 2023, US sales of new energy vehicles reached 1.331 million units, an increase of 49.8% year-on-year, but the penetration rate was only 9.2%, lower than in Europe and China. The ratio of public charging stations to parking facilities is increasingly problematic, reaching 22.4:1 in 2022.

Furthermore, charging station prices in Europe and the US are significantly higher than in China. For example, a 120kW DC charging station costs the equivalent of several hundred thousand RMB overseas, far exceeding the tens of thousands of RMB in China. This has attracted domestic manufacturers to expand into the European and American markets, resulting in a proliferation of Chinese-made AC charging stations in these regions.
