Does The Watt-hour Meter Consume Electricity? Whose Is It?

The electric energy meter measures how much electric energy the user consumes, and the more electricity is used, the more it counts. Will the meter itself consume electricity?

The induction meter is what we usually call the turntable meter. There is an aluminum turntable inside the meter. When there is useful electricity, the turntable will rotate. The counter connected to the turntable can calculate the power consumption. How many. Its external structure looks like this:

External structure of induction meter

The number of revolutions represents how many revolutions the electric turntable makes once, and the index of the counter increases by one corresponding to one revolution.

Its internal structure and wiring look like this:

1 represents the iron core of the voltage element, 2 the aluminum plate of the electric meter, 3 represents the iron core of the current element, and R is equivalent to the electrical equipment.

Since the voltage iron core and the current iron core are wound with wires, and the wires have resistance, it is said that whenever electrical equipment consumes electrical energy, a certain amount of electrical energy is consumed inside the meter. How much is the consumption? We can estimate:

According to the relevant national regulations, the power loss of the voltage coil of an induction meter with a level of 2 should not exceed 2 watts per hour. The power consumption of the voltage coil of a general meter is between 0.7 and 1.5, and that of the current coil is about 0.5 watts. . Take the median value of the voltage coil 1.1 watts to calculate:

1.1 (Watts) × 24 (Hours) × 30 (Days) = 792 (Watt hours). Since 1 kilowatt hour of electricity is 1 kilowatt hour, it is 0.792 degrees;

Current coil: 0.5 (watts) × 24 (hours) × 30 (days) = 360 (watt hours), which is 0.36 degrees;

So the total consumption in one month is 1.182 kWh. Therefore, adding 1 kWh to the reading of each household is the total power consumption of this household.
